P.J. Hoerr Quarterly Safety and Company Overview Meeting - Morton, IL

On June 14th P.J. Hoerr held its quarterly Safety and Company overview meeting at the Best Western Ashland House banquet room in Morton.  Approximately 140 were in attendance.
P.J. Hoerr Chairman and CEO Bob Hoerr opened the meeting with a prayer thanking God for the blessings of the past and asking His continued blessings for the future.  He then reviewed the company’s safety record for the insurance year going from July 1, 2011 to the current date.  It was stated that there was only 1 lost time accident and 6 minor OSHA recordable incidents for the year.  Kirk Anderson, VP talked about the increasing scrutiny by clients such as Caterpillar regarding contractor safety performance.  Bob then gave everyone an overview of projects that have either recently commenced or which are about to begin over the upcoming months.  The project list is posted below.  Bob then introduced Jay Rinkenberger as our guest speaker.  Jay is the recently retired VP of Grimm Electric.  Jay spoke on the topic “Both Sides of the Fence.”  Jay had a unique career working in the construction industry as both a journeyman electrician as well as a project manager, estimator and company executive.  He waxed eloquent on the need for management and labor to realize the unique talents and contributions each side brings to the table.  His talk concluded with a video about the father and son triathlon team of Dick and Ricky Hoyt.  Ricky was born with cerebral palsy and is unable to walk or speak.  Yet he still competes in triathlons with his father pulling and pushing him along the way.  It was a strong visual and emotional testimony to the power of teamwork in being able to accomplish difficult goals.  The meeting concluded with a celebration of the retirements of two long time P.J. Hoerr employees, Doug Dean and Dan Light.  Stories, well wishes and memories were shared and a retirement gift was presented to each.
