P.J. Hoerr Quarterly Safety Meeting - Washington, IL

On July 30th P.J. Hoerr/Summit held their quarterly Safety Meeting at the Five Points Washington meeting facility. Dinner was catered by Lindy’s Market in Washington. Approximately 100 were in attendance. To start off the meeting Corporate Safety director Hans Hinrichsen discussed the importance of Excavation Safety. To wrap up CEO Bob Hoerr showed a video that related to how approaching work place safety is an individual moral responsibility as well as a business necessity.

P.J. Hoerr Culture of Safety

As a way to reinforce P.J. Hoerr's culture of safety, this sign along with 11 interchangeable questions has been placed at the job site entrance of Center for Integrated Wellness in Bloomington, IL. The plan is to install this type of sign at all job sites.


Are you wearing appropriate PPE
Do you have your hi-vis on
Have you inspected your fall protection equipment
Are your power supplies locked out
Do you have fall protection over 6 feet
Where is your SDS binder located
Are your excavations properly sloped or shored
Are you wet cutting during masonry work
Have you de-energized circuits prior to working around live circuits
Are mobile equipment alarms audible and working
Has a competent person inspected your scaffold

RLI Insurance | Topping Out Ceremony - Peoria, IL

In building construction, topping out is a builders' ceremony held when the highest or last piece of steel is set in place. Employees from RLI signed the steel beam before it was set.

Bethany Community Church - Washington, IL

PAST PERFORMANCE - This new 21,080 sq ft facility is now completed. The building will serve the church’s weekday ministry and special events, but capable of accommodating a Sunday worship. The building consists of classroom spaces of various sizes, a nursery, a kitchen, restrooms, mechanical room, an entrance lobby, and a multipurpose room. The lobby and multi-purpose room are 2 story height spaces with a mechanical mezzanine located above half the lobby space.

More exterior photos to come once landscaping is completed.

Buehler Home Apartment Addition - Peoria, IL

The parking lot adjacent to this addition is being torn out to make way for a larger one. At the addition drywall has started and Summit Masonry is putting up exterior brick.

Electrical Training Center - Bartonville, IL

The Peoria Area Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (JATC), offers three different specialties in electrical work: Inside Wireman, Residential Wireman, & Telecommunications Installer-Technicians. This Electrical Training Center currently located in downtown Peoria held a ground breaking this morning at the site where their new 20,900 sq ft facility will be located in Bartonville, IL. The building will consist of a workshop, training classrooms and administrative offices. Project Manager – Mike Waibel | Project Superintendent - Ross Hodgson.
