P.J. Hoerr Quarterly Company Overview & Safety Meeting - Morton, IL
On Thursday, November 7, 2013 P.J. Hoerr and Summit held
their quarterly company overview and safety meeting at The Ashland House in
Morton. The meeting was made more
interesting due to a partial power outage but things were rigged up in a way as
to make everything functional. Bob Hoerr
kicked off the meeting with an overview of the corporate work program for 2013
and beyond. He urged the attendees to
renew and redouble their efforts regarding client service, productivity,
quality and safety given the continued intense competitiveness of the
market. He also announced that new high
visibility jackets would be given to all company team members as a Christmas
gift. Bob then spoke regarding the
upcoming 100 year P.J. Hoerr anniversary in 2014 and showed a newly produced
corporate overview video. The meeting
was then turned over to the company Safety Director Hans Hinrichsen. Hans gave an overview of the company's year
to date safety performance. He also
reviewed the work and recommendations of the Safety Committee. Hans then proceeded to explain the new
hazardous materials standards being put forth by OSHA and the implications for
project managers and superintendents. He
concluded by awarding safety hour checks to 16 construction
superintendents. Bob then concluded the
meeting by discussing the emotional aspects of safety versus the theoretical
ones. Videos and pictures were shown
that vividly demonstrated the realities of failing to address job site safety
in a proactive manner.
