What is Pull Planning?
Pull planning is a lean construction practice in which every key stakeholder on a project collaboratively starts with the end goal and works backwards milestone by milestone toward the start date. Pull planning is different from any other lean construction technique because it not only works backward, but also requires a high degree of collaboration that is unique from any other method. By utilizing all key players in the construction project, everyone’s expertise is meshed together into one cohesive group, working as one to identify potential problems and cut down on unnecessary time spent.

Pull planning is usually visualized using a hand-written timeline and color-coded sticky notes denoting each specific task. These sticky notes then start to fill up the timeline, allowing all stakeholders to visualize the order and dependencies of tasks and identify possible overlap that may cause delays.

Construction Project Manager Opening

OSF Center for Health Renovation & Addition - Streator, IL

This $30 million project of which P.J. Hoerr is contracted for $16,000,000 includes both exterior and interior renovations for this Spring Street facility in Streator, IL. These include improvements to OSF specialty clinics, rehabilitation, primary care and diagnostic imaging departments. A new entrance and lobby, with upgrades to registration and the addition of a tech bar for computer users, is also planned. To advance its partnership with local residents and organizations, OSF is adding community education and meeting rooms as well. Work on the Center for Health will be done in phases and is just getting underway with completion scheduled for the summer of 2019.

The redesign will also include a more spacious lobby which will host a tech bar for those with computers. The rehab center will be located on the second floor and will overlook the lobby, showcasing the center's goal of promoting wellness.
