Central Illinois Regional Airport - Bloomington, IL
The previous baggage handling system was inefficient, unsightly
and took up precious space in front of the airline ticket counters. The
proposed system will now be located in a new building located behind the public
spaces. This new facility will include
a state-of-the-art automated baggage handling system with an inline explosive
detection system. These improvements will increase the speed of inspecting, moving
and sorting the baggage and decrease the incidence of misrouted bags. P.J. Hoerr
is responsible for construction of the new building (which is now completed) and installation of the new
baggage equipment. The project is scheduled for completion in December of 2014.
