Yesterday afternoon, a meeting was held at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center with all of the MRI Renovation subcontractors, vendors, and end users to take a collaborative approach at building the schedule. The collaborative approach is called pull planning, which is one of the first steps of the "Last Planner System" for Lean Construction Practices.
Each trade partner was given the opportunity to provide input on how the next phase will be accomplished. By involving the trades and allowing group collaboration, we were able to develop a detailed schedule that will allow us to safely complete this phase and beat our target date for magnet delivery.
We will continue to use the "Last Planner System" through-out the MRI Renovation project by reviewing the 6-week look ahead to identify constraints, scheduling weekly work plans to plan work collaboratively, and we will make adjustments to project variances by tracking our "plan percent complete".
